Adventure riding

ADV tyres live in two worlds — tarmac transfers and dirt. Load, heat and pressure discipline keep the carcass honest across both.

Load

Luggage, passenger and accessories raise the load the tyre must carry. Stay within the motorcycle’s stated limits and the tyre’s load cues. Overload plus low pressure cooks the shoulder on hot roads.

Road / off-road mix

  • On long sealed sections, run higher cold pressures suited to speed and load.
  • For dirt, drop carefully — enough for comfort and traction, not so low that you risk pinch damage or bead issues.
  • Re-set pressures when you return to the highway. A dirt setting on a fast road is a heat trap.

Heat and pressure

Heat builds on long descents and desert highways. Check cold pressures at the start of each day. After a hot ride, expect a rise on the gauge; adjust with a cold target in mind, not a hot guess.

Terrain notes

Sand wants a different balance than rock or mud. Choose an ADV / dual compound and tread that matches the majority of your route — and carry the tools to fix a puncture far from a dealer.
